Seerah Conference 2012
The life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a complete code for guidance. Without seeking guidance from the pious life and peaceful teachings of our respected Prophet (peace be upon him) we can neither succeed in this world nor can achieve the required goal in the world here after.
In response to the recently heartbreaking event of Blasphemy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Social Welfare Society-Peshawar medical College organized a Seerah conference on 17th November, 2012 at Peshawar Medical College, with an aim to present the merciful and peaceful personality of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The conference included a Poster Session (Calligraphy Competition), Nasheed Competition (males and females) and Essay Writing Competition (English and Urdu) besides inspiring lectures from renowned and eminent Islamic scholars. Students from Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar Dental College and various other institutes of Peshawar took part in these competitions.
The guest speakers for the event included respectable Dr.Shams-ul-Haq Hanif, Maulana Ismail, and our chief guest, Mufti Ghulam-ur-Rahman from Jamia Usmania, Peshawar.
The proceedings of the Seerah Conference got underway with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mahdi Haq. Opening the conference, Fahad Ahmad, President, Social Welfare Society, said that we have an allegiance to Allah and the Prophet (peace be upon him) as Muslims and we have to come together against the great enemies of Islam and continue to protect, defend and propagate this Deen and the dignity of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). Further, he thanked everyone for attending the Conference.
Dr. Shams-ul-Haq Hanif, one of the guest speakers, spoke about the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He explained how the Holy Prophet dealt with his enemies and opponents with patience. Speaking further, he congratulated the students of Peshawar medical College for breaking the stereotype and organizing the conference in a month other than Rabi-ul-awal. He said that the concept of Seerah cannot be learnt in a single day, it is a life long struggle. Great emphasis was laid on the importance of Darood.
Maulana Ismail, the second guest speaker, in his address, said that the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him)is exemplary for not only Muslims but for the whole Mankind. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to complete the best of character, his life is a source of light; those who will follow him will always remain on the right path.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Mufti Ghulam-ur-Rahamn, who is the principal of Jamia Usmania Peshawar, appreciated the efforts for holding such an auspicious event. He stressed upon the importance of Jihad. He said that the west has created the image of Jihad as fighting and killing, this causes disrepute to Islam and distorts its identity. It must, therefore, be made clear that Jihad doesn’t denote any kind of combating, torturing or killing. On the contrary, it means extreme exertion, effort and struggle in the way of Allah. It requires a mission that is what distinguishes it from a war, which is done for worldly gains. Mufti Ghulam-ur-Rahman also mentioned that Islam means peace and security for not only followers of Islam but for the entire Humanity.
After, the lectures by the speakers, an interactive audience quiz session was held, in which questions were asked from the life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
