Introduction- Social Welfare Society
Social Welfare Society (SWS) is an official society of Peshawar Medical College. It provides an organized platform for the students and staff of Peshawar Medical College to help the disaster stricken, needy and underserved segments of the society.
Since its genesis, SWS has been actively undertaking both the welfare and health promotion activities. SWS executed a major activity in Jalala Camp for the IDPs of districts Swat, Dir and Bajaur. Food and household items were distributed to more than 1100 IDP families by SWS members. In addition, SWS also devised a proper referral mechanism for IDPs to get free medical treatment in the allied teaching hospitals of Peshawar Medical College.
The SWS has been working in collaboration with Undergraduate Medical Research (UMR) and has celebrated “Keep the Hospital Safe Day”. In collaboration with Department of Community Health Sciences, SWS has been conducting seminars and poster competitions on relevant health related events such as world Diabetes and world TB days.
