MISSION STATEMENT
GIVE BLOOD. SAVE LIFE.
Who we are?Peshawar Medical College’s Blood Wing, a branch of Social Welfare Society, was established in May 2011. Within its short lifespan, it Blood Wing has already managed to find more than 100 blood donors for emergencies.
In addition to this, Blood Wing has organized Peshawar Medical College’s first-ever complete vaccination camp against Hepatitis B, during which students were vaccinated against the Hep. B virus. Blood Wing uses a unique college-wise system: students’ names, contact numbers and blood types are stored in a database. Their information is pulled up when the need for blood arises, and those who are listed as willing donors are called. What we do Thus far, we have donated: - 25 bags of blood to Kuwait Teaching Hospital - 11 bags of blood to Khyber Teaching Hospital - 10 bags of blood to Rehman Medical Institute - 8 bags of blood to Frontier Foundation - 6 bags of blood of O- to Zakya Minhas - Total bags of blood donated = 60 The blood types most commonly requested are O+, or AB+; B+ and B- are also frequently requested.
